Create a new document the size you want your wallpaper to be im using 800×600 pixels just for the purpose of this tutorial. Double click your bacground layer to unlock it. Apply the gradient overlay using the settings below.

Set the color #ff5ba6 as your forground then select the custom shapes tool. Search among the shapes and find “registration target 2″ (see image below) if you dont see as many shapes as me then click the little black arrow in the top right hand corner and goto “all”.

Drag the shape out as big as you can, when you get to the point your mouse wont go no further just stop and press “CTRL + T” then resize again. Right click with the pen tool and goto fill path. You should have something like this.

In the beginning you should create a new document sized 1900х1200 pixels and fill it with black color.

Then I would like to bring the picture one of the heroes to our canvas. You can find different pictures on Google Images or feel free to use mine. Open up the picture and using Ctrl+C copy it , then go back to the main canvas and press Ctrl+V to paste copied fragment. Move this fragment to right lower corner.

As you can see the picture less then canvas, in this way press Ctrl+T and hold Shift button to enlarge the picture pro rata. The result should look as mine:

After increasing the image sharpness has become worse. We can fix this problem by duplicating current layer with Ctrl+J and Filter > Other > High Pass with next parameters:

After that change layer mode to Overlay and you will get the next result:

Ok, let’s begin. Create a new document sized 700×700 pixels and fill it with black color.

Let’s start! First of all you should create new document sized 500×500 pixels and fill our new canvas with black color.

After that use the Horizontal Type Tool to add the text line with any color (I prefer to use white color) in the middle of the canvas. The font that I’ve used for this tutorial AvantGarde Md BT. Set up following presets for your text:

You should have the same result as mine:

Ok, after that use Layer > Rasterize > Type to rasterize type layer. Then get out the Rectangular Marquee Tool to create selection as on my picture below and press Ctrl+Shift+J to cut selected letter to the new layer.

After that apply Color Overlay layer style to new layer:

Now we have something like this:

Ok, go back to the text line layer and cut every letter to separate layer in the same way. Apply the same Blending Options to each letter. Use following colors: #074d9d, #0496b7, #00992b, #8c9f09, #a55405 and #9f0929.

After that merge all letters in one layer again and press Ctrl+J to duplicate current layer. Go to lower original layer and apply Filter > Blur > Motion Blur with similar settings to these:

Now we have effect like this:

Ok, looking good, isn’t it? Keep on creating effect. Go to the upper layer and use Select > Load Selection to load selection of our text line. Now, use the Rectangular Marquee Tool and hold Alt button to cut away lower part of selection. Fill selected area with white to transparent gradient.

Ok, we are almost done! Remove selection with Ctrl+D and use the Horizontal Type Tool again to add one more text line. Apply the next text presets for current text layer:

Ok, let’s start by making a new document in Photoshop. I created a new document sized 1000×500 px. Now time to bring some background to our canvas. For this you can use some abstract or whatever! A good place to start is Google Images. Also you can use My Picture.

This is the easy part; all you have to do is write out your desired text on the canvas. Get out your Horizontal Type Tool (just the usual one) and write out your text in whatever color you want.

In the above image I’ve used Arial Black (220 pt, Smooth) as my font of choice. Do not forget to leave more space between letters. We will add the heart there later. Now I would like to add some pattern to our pattern gallery before we will start creating our text effect. Open This Pattern or find another one using Google Images. Use Edit > Define Pattern to save it as pattern. After that go back to our main document, set fill opacity to 0% up for the text layer

Step 1

First off, let’s start by creating a new document and applying the oh-so-obligatory clouds (Filter > Render > Clouds).

Now that we have our base to work with, apply Mezzotint (Filter > Pixelate > Mezzotint) with type “Long Strokes.”

Doesn’t look like much right now, but with the magic of motion blur (Filter > Blur > Motion Blur), with an angle of 90 degrees and a distance of 999 for the settings, everything will be better.

Step 4

Now add a new layer and overlay some color over it. Here I chose the Rainbow Gradient using the Gradient Tool (G), but you can choose whatever suits you. When you have a layer of color, set the layer mode to Overlay.

Step 5

If you feel like being creative, you can tweak some more by changing the curves (Ctrl + M) to make the image either brighter or gloomier depending on the mood.

Step 6

Now create a new layer. Then select the Marquee Tool (M), set it to elliptical, and the Feather to 30, and select around the picture (use the example below for reference). Then select inverse (Ctrl + Shift + I), and fill (Edit > Fill) with black. Then change the Opacity to 75% so that it is a bit more subtle.

Step 7

Again create a new layer, and with the same Marquee tool settings as above, select (use the example below as reference). Then change the curve (Ctrl + M) to something like in the example. Afterward, change the Opacity to 60% so that it isn’t blinding. Try to be creative and change the settings to your taste.

Step 8

Now we are done with the background. You can choose to do whatever you want with it. But I’ll leave you guys with a simple example that you can easily do for generic jobs.

Reset the Marquee Tool to rectangular with 0 feather. Then create a horizontal bar in the middle of the picture. Then fill it with white (Edit > Fill) and lower the opacity to say, 50%.

Step 9

Now while still selecting the area, select the first layer (the clouds + mezzotint + motion blur layer), copy it (Ctrl + C) and paste it (Ctrl +V) in a layer above it, but below the Color Overlay. Deselect, and apply Gaussian Blur to it (Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur) with a setting of about 3.2 pixels.

Step 10

Going back to the top layer, duplicate (Layer > Duplicate Layer) the white horizontal bar layer you created in step 8 and transform it (Ctrl + T). Then make it slightly smaller height-wise, about 2px from the top and the bottom.

Step 11

Finally, add a text on top of that layer and type in what your heart desires. Congratulations, you are done!

It’s a simple technique that can still produce eye-catching results!
